What is Alpha SecureCode service?
We upgrade Alpha SecureCode service following the standards of the European Directive on Electronic Transaction Security Requirements (PSD2 / Strong Customer Authentication - SCA). An additional way of identifying yourself for the approval of your transactions, which enhances security through the
Alpha Web Banking and
Alpha Mobile Banking services as well as your online transactions using an Alpha Bank card.
How Alpha SecureCode works?
Online transactions that require Alpha SecureCode are carried out fast and easy, since the validations are completed via
Push Notifications from the Alpha Mobile Banking application.
For
e-commerce transactions (online purchases) using an Alpha Bank card, further to the Push Notification method, there is also available the option of applying strong customer authentication using the combination of a
One-Time Password, the
Alpha SecureCode together with a personal code, the
ePIN. The
ePIN is a 4-digit private number that you (the cardholder) will set and remember. The
ePIN will be used in combination with the
Alpha SecureCode you will receive via SMS or Viber, for even more secure authentication of your transactions. Once both details are verified, the transaction is authenticated and will proceed for approval.
What information will the Push Notifications contain?
For your online transactions with an Alpha Bank card, Push Notifications will contain the details of the business, the amount and the date of the transaction and part of the number of the card used.
For your transactions through Alpha Web Banking, Push Notifications will contain the details of the transaction such as the debit / credit account, the amount and the date of transaction.
Which transactions require Alpha SecureCode?
Alpha SecureCode is compulsory to complete the following electronic transactions:
- Online transactions with an Alpha Bank card
- Transfers of funds to third parties (Individuals or companies) to an Alpha Bank account
- Remittances to another domestic or foreign bank
- Standing orders for the transfer of fixed amounts to Alpha Bank third party accounts
- Card debt and consumer loan payments, issued by Alpha Bank or other domestic Banks
- Payments to Organizations.
Security in your transactions also depends on you
The Alpha Mobile Banking application that you have installed on your mobile phone to approve your transactions through Push Notifications, requires the entry of your PIN or your biometric features (Fingerprint or FaceID).
The completion of your transactions is now done through the Alpha SecureCode service and is done through
Push Notifications from the Alpha Mobile Banking application.
Alpha Bank constantly takes care of the maximum possible security of your transactions. However, the security of your transactions also requires your own contribution.
